The timeline for commercialization of stationary fuel cell technology can be aided by legislation and regulations that support interconnection of fuel cells and other distributed generation technologies to the electric grid. Regulations to allow transport of direct methanol fuel cells in the cabin and cargo areas of passenger aircraft would help consumers carrying fuel cell-powered personal electronics like laptops, MP3 and DVD players. And legislation to provide incentives for purchases of clean, efficient alternative fuel vehicles could help consumers reduce the cost of driving.
